Foam Ceramic Filter Grundartangi Aluminium can resist the erosion and corrosion of molten aluminum, and provide high-quality, clean aluminum products, reducing waste and inclusion defects in the aluminum casting process, all of which help increase profits.
Uses of aluminum
Aluminum is one of the most useful metals in the world. Pure aluminum is mainly used in the electronics industry to manufacture hard disk drives, conductor tracks on silicon chips, and capacitor foils. When metal forms alloys with other metals such as silicon, zinc, copper, and magnesium, it becomes stronger.

The history of Mannvit can be traced back to 1963, when the VGK and Hönnun engineering companies were founded. In 2007 and 2008, these two engineering companies merged with the third engineering company Rafhönnun to form Mannvit.
The founders of VGK are mechanical engineers Gudmundur Björnsson and Kristján Ágúst Flygenring. They started operating as an engineering services consulting company in Skólavörðustígur 3A in Reykjavik. The key to the Skólavörðustígur house was purchased from the Jes Zimson metal shop on March 7, 1963. The receipt for this purchase is one of the first batch of accounting vouchers that appeared in the company’s first fiscal year.
The founders of Hönnun are civil engineers Gudmundur Gunnarsson, Jóhann Már Maríusson, Magnús Hallgrímsson and Thor Aðalsteinsson. Their collaboration began in March 1963 as a means of obtaining an extra job at Thor’s home in Reykjavik, Reykjavik. All four of them were employees of the National Lighthouse and Port Authority, and participated in the strike of engineers hired by the state in the summer of 1963. When the government passed a temporary law to stop the strike, they all resigned immediately and decided to set up an engineering company. The company’s office space was rented in Reykjavík, and it was quickly decided to name the company Hönnun (design).
Rafhönnun SF. It was formally established on September 9, 1969. The founders are electrical engineers Dadi Ágústsson and Jón Otti Sigurdsson. The operation began in a single room in Skúlagata, Reykjavik. Dadi and Jón Otti are both employees of the Reykjavík Municipal Power Company, and Rafhönnun’s operations were initially completed only in their free time.
VGK and Hönnun merged into VGK-Hönnun in early 2007. When Rafhönnun joined in 2008, Mannvit hf. was created.
