Boron Nitride Paste
The concentrated water-based Boron Nitride Paste still has good performance in the state of high dilution. It is used for the construction of dip-coated parts and can form a relatively hard coating after drying.
Therefore, when a harder coating is required (such as a moving element such as a graphite rotor) that is in contact with the melt, this coating is generally selected. Graphite, metal, ceramic, etc. are suitable for this coating.

Boron Nitride Paste

AdTech Boron Nitride Paste is a high-purity, ceramic-based coating designed specifically for the aluminum casting and foundry industry. Formulated with hexagonal Boron Nitride (h-BN), often referred to as “White Graphite,” this paste creates a superior non-stick barrier between molten metal and refractory surfaces.

Unlike standard lubricants, our BN Paste withstands extreme temperatures while maintaining excellent lubricity and non-wetting properties against molten aluminum, magnesium, zinc, and their alloys.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Total Non-Wetting: Effectively prevents molten aluminum from sticking to linings, launders, and tools.

  • High-Temperature Stability: Resists oxidation up to 800°C in air and up to 1400°C in protective atmospheres.

  • Extends Refractory Life: Reduces chemical attack and corrosion on ceramic fiber, graphite, and castable refractory materials.

  • Contamination Free: The inorganic formula ensures no impurities are introduced into the molten metal melt.

  • Eco-Friendly: Water-based, non-toxic, and safe for operators (low VOC).

Primary Applications

AdTech Boron Nitride Paste is engineered for critical contact zones in the casting process. It is the preferred release agent for:

  1. Launder Systems: Coating flow channels, runners, and transition plates to ensure smooth metal flow.

  2. Filtration Equipment: Protecting Ceramic Foam Filter boxes and distribution plates.

  3. Casting Accessories: Lubrication of hot top rings, stopper rods, casting tables, and skimmers.

  4. Tool Maintenance: Protecting ladles and spoons to prevent iron infiltration into the aluminum melt.

Usage Instructions

To achieve maximum adhesion and lifespan, follow these application steps:

  1. Surface Preparation: Ensure the refractory or metal surface is clean, dry, and free of dust, oil, or old coating residues.

  2. Dilution:

    • For Brushing: Dilute with distilled water at a ratio of 1:3 to 1:5 (Paste : Water).

    • For Spraying: Dilute at a ratio of 1:6.

    • Note: Stir evenly until the consistency resembles latex paint.

  3. Application: Apply a uniform coating using a sponge, brush, or spray gun. A thickness of 20-50 microns is recommended.

  4. Drying:

  • Air Dry: Allow to dry at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  • Pre-heating: For best results, bake the coated part at 300°C for 20 minutes prior to contact with molten metal.

How to use Boron Nitride Paste:

1.Clean the surface of the protected material.
2. Apply the diluted BN paint to the surface of the material with a sponge (or a brush or spray gun). Dilution multiple: material: water = 1: 5 ~ 6, customers can adjust as needed.
3. After coating, bake at a temperature of about 300 ℃, and it can be used after the coating is dried.
4. For the inaccessible local coating (such as the inner wall of a thin tube), the coated part can be immersed in the diluted BN coating, and the excess coating will naturally flow out after being taken out and used after drying (this method is only applicable to metal parts)

Note: the coating should be uniform, do not make BN aggregate on the surface, that is, do not apply too thick.

Boron Nitride Paste product advantages:

High temperature stability and non-stick aluminum.
Can be applied on hot or cold surfaces. After drying, the coating can be treated, smoothed and polished with a dry soft cloth or paper.
Special formula, water-based matrix, easy to use.
It is environmentally friendly coating, non-toxic and pollution-free.

Packaging and Storage

  • Packaging: Available in 5kg pails and 20kg drums.

  • Storage: Store in a cool, dry warehouse (temperature ≥ 5°C). Do not allow the paste to freeze. Keep the container tightly sealed when not in use to prevent drying.
