This October, AdTech Metallurgical Materials Co., Ltd. will travel to Düsseldorf, Germany, to take part in ALUMINIUM 2026, taking place October 6 through 8 at Messe Düsseldorf.

Our team will be at Stand 6M18.

For AdTech, this is an opportunity to meet people from across the aluminum industry and talk about a part of production that does not always get much attention outside the casting floor: how molten aluminum is treated before it reaches the caster.

Before the Aluminum Becomes a Product

By the time an aluminum billet or slab comes out of the caster, a number of things have already happened to the metal.

Hydrogen may have entered the melt. Oxide films and other non-metallic inclusions may be present. The metal has to be treated, transferred and delivered to the caster under controlled conditions.

These are not problems that can be solved after the metal has solidified.

A typical casting line may move aluminum from the furnace to the holding furnace, through on-line degassing and filtration, and then through the distribution launder before casting. The exact arrangement varies from plant to plant, but the objective remains the same: remove what should not be in the melt and deliver the treated metal to the caster in a stable condition.

This is the part of the process AdTech has worked in since the company was founded in 2012.

From Melt Treatment to Casting

AdTech began factory production in 2013, with its business built around aluminum melt purification and related casting equipment and materials.

Over the years, that has grown into a range that covers several parts of the casting line: on-line degassing systems, ceramic foam filters, plate-type and deep-bed filtration equipment, tubular filters, refractory launders, flow-control components, fluxes and casting accessories.

The range is not the result of trying to make as many products as possible.

It comes from the way a casting line actually operates.

The melt needs to be treated. Once it has been treated, it has to move through the line without losing control of temperature or flow. Equipment has to fit the available space and the production capacity. Components installed around the caster have to suit the operating conditions and the way the line is built.

That is why AdTech’s work has developed across the melt treatment section rather than stopping at one material or one piece of equipment.

The Same Aluminum Does Not Mean the Same Process

A new casting line and an existing plant rarely present the same engineering problem.

A new line gives the engineering team more flexibility to determine where degassing and filtration should be positioned, how much treatment capacity is required, and how the metal will be transferred to the caster. A retrofit, by contrast, has to work within an existing layout, existing equipment and limited installation space.

Production conditions matter just as much. Throughput, alloy, casting speed, metal temperature and the available height and space in the line all affect the design.

This is particularly important when selecting the treatment equipment.

A plate-type unit may suit one line, while a deep-bed or tubular system may make more sense for another. A filter box may need a different configuration when the required metal flow changes. A launder system has to be designed around the actual distance, elevation and connection points between the treatment equipment and the caster.

In other words, the equipment has to fit the line—not the other way around.

That is something we see regularly in our work with aluminum producers.

Where the Aluminum Industry Is Heading

The aluminum industry is changing in ways that go beyond producing more metal.

Producers are being asked to do more with the material they already have: use energy more efficiently, make greater use of recycled metal, maintain tighter control over quality, and meet increasingly demanding requirements from the industries that depend on aluminum.

That puts more attention on what happens inside the production process itself.

For casting operations, improvements are often found in the details—how the melt is treated, how consistently it is delivered, how much material is lost, how reliably a line can run, and how well the process can adapt when production requirements change.

These are no longer isolated production concerns. They are part of a broader shift toward aluminum manufacturing that is more efficient, more controlled and better prepared for what comes next.

And that is one reason ALUMINIUM 2026 matters to us. It brings together the people working on different parts of that transition, from raw material and recycling to casting, processing, equipment and finished aluminum products.

Why We’re Going to Düsseldorf

This is what we want to bring to ALUMINIUM 2026.

Not a long list of products, but the experience of working with the complete melt treatment section of an aluminum casting line.

For some visitors, the discussion may be about replacing ceramic foam filters.

For others, it may be a new filtration unit, an on-line degassing system, a deep-bed filter or a launder system for a new casting line.

Some may already have a system in operation and be looking for a way to improve it.

Those are very different requirements, and they should not lead to the same answer.

That is why exhibitions remain useful to us. A specification sheet can tell us the size of a filter. A conversation with the person running the casting line can tell us why that filter was chosen in the first place—and what needs to change now.
