Filter-filter tersebut terbagi menjadi 2 kelompok dasar, di mana kedua jenis tersebut memiliki perbedaan yang signifikan dalam mekanisme penyaringannya:<\/p>\n<p class=\"align-blok\">Luas permukaan filter datar jauh lebih besar daripada ketebalannya. Kotoran hanya ditangkap di sisi masuk filter melalui mekanisme penyaringan dan pembentukan lapisan filter. Pada filter volume, baik efek filtrasi di sisi masuk filter maupun kemampuan filtrasi kedalaman dimanfaatkan. Kemampuan filtrasi kedalaman bervariasi tergantung pada ukuran pori, penampang pori, tata letak, serta bahan filter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"align-blok\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.adtechamm.com\/id\/2017\/11\/29\/molten-aluminium-filter\/\">Penyaringan<\/a> dengan menyaring\u00a0<\/strong>metode ini bekerja dengan cara menangkap inklusi yang ukurannya lebih besar daripada lubang-lubang pada bagian depan (yaitu bagian masuk) filter. Metode ini hanya dapat menangkap partikel-partikel besar, khususnya inklusi yang membentuk lapisan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"align-blok\">\u00a0<img class=\"obrazek_stred\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lanik.eu\/uploads\/RTEmagicC_cezeni_01.jpg.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"136\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"align-blok\"><strong>Pembentukan filter cake<\/strong>\u00a0Proses ini berlanjut setelah penangkapan inklusi pertama pada permukaan filter. Semakin halus pori-pori filter, semakin baik pula hasil penyaringannya. Namun, perlu diingat bahwa filter tersebut akan cepat tersumbat.
