Dado que este material tiene una estructura precisa, una calidad uniforme y una gran superficie, ofrece un excelente efecto de filtrado.<\/p>\n<p><strong>La producci\u00f3n de lingotes de aluminio consiste en la extracci\u00f3n de bauxita, la producci\u00f3n de al\u00famina y la electr\u00f3lisis del aluminio.<\/strong><br \/>\nEn primer lugar, se extrae el mineral de bauxita y, mediante procesos de lavado con agua y molienda, se obtiene polvo de mineral de aluminio; a continuaci\u00f3n, se llevan a cabo cuatro procesos complejos, como el calcinado, para obtener al\u00famina. Estas bauxitas se caracterizan por su bajo contenido en silicio, su alto contenido en hierro y su elevada relaci\u00f3n aluminio-silicio, y se concentran en \u00c1frica Occidental, Ocean\u00eda y Am\u00e9rica Central y del Sur. Los 8% restantes son bauxitas sedimentarias, pertenecientes a los tipos boehmita y di\u00e1spora, de ley media y baja, distribuidas principalmente en Grecia, la antigua Yugoslavia y Hungr\u00eda.<br \/>\nDebido a las diferentes caracter\u00edsticas de los tres tipos de bauxita, cada empresa productora de al\u00famina adopta distintos procesos de producci\u00f3n, entre los que destacan principalmente el m\u00e9todo Bayer, el m\u00e9todo de sinterizaci\u00f3n con cal sodada y el m\u00e9todo combinado Bayer-sinterizaci\u00f3n. Por lo general, la bauxita de alta ley se produce mediante el m\u00e9todo Bayer, mientras que la de ley media y baja se produce mediante el m\u00e9todo combinado o el de sinterizaci\u00f3n. Debido a la sencillez de su proceso y a su bajo consumo energ\u00e9tico, el proceso Bayer se ha convertido en el m\u00e9todo m\u00e1s importante utilizado actualmente en la producci\u00f3n de al\u00famina, y su producci\u00f3n representa alrededor del 95% de la producci\u00f3n mundial total de al\u00famina.<br \/>\nLa al\u00famina se somete a un proceso de electr\u00f3lisis para producir aluminio met\u00e1lico bajo la acci\u00f3n de una corriente intensa.
