Sus ingredientes principales son el cloruro y la villiaumita, junto con otros compuestos. Tras un tratamiento t\u00e9rmico adecuado y un proceso de cribado, adquiere un tama\u00f1o uniforme, lo que facilita su transferencia al recipiente de refinado con gas (N\u2082 o Ar) como portador hasta la capa inferior del aluminio fundido. Mediante cambios f\u00edsicos y qu\u00edmicos en el aluminio fundido, se forman numerosas burbujas peque\u00f1as que entran en contacto total con el aluminio fundido, separando el hidr\u00f3geno y otros gases nocivos. Al mismo tiempo, los compuestos adsorbentes y fundentes contenidos en el fundente de refinado pueden adsorber y fundir con fuerza los \u00f3xidos y las impurezas flotantes, adhiri\u00e9ndolos a las burbujas; al ascender estas, son arrastrados hacia la superficie del aluminio fundido, logrando as\u00ed el objetivo de purificaci\u00f3n mediante desgasificaci\u00f3n y desescoriado.
