La desgasificaci\u00f3n rotativa se basa en el principio de aumentar la superficie de contacto del gas de inyecci\u00f3n con el metal. Cuanto mayor es la superficie de contacto, mayor es la velocidad de transferencia del metal al gas inerte. Cuanto menor es el tama\u00f1o de las burbujas para un volumen determinado de gas, mayor es la superficie de contacto. Si esa misma burbuja se divide en burbujas de 1\/16\u201d de di\u00e1metro, la superficie aumenta a 96 pulgadas cuadradas.
